Exosonic and EpiSci to Partner on Supersonic Autonomy

Exosonic, Inc. and EpiSys Science, Inc. (EpiSci) announce a joint partnership to advance uncrewed, autonomous, supersonic aircraft capability in support of adversary air, aerial target, and collaborative combat aircraft applications for the US Department of Defense.

Exosonic will apply EpiSci’s unique autonomy technology to develop a supersonic uncrewed aerial vehicle (UAV) that can operate semi-autonomously to provide the DoD with an affordable 5th generation representative aircraft for training and future operational purposes that also makes use of an open system architecture. The aircraft development effort has benefited from an existing AFWERX SBIR Phase II effort with the support of Air Combat Command and feedback from many other government stakeholders and commercial adversary air companies.

EpiSci will adapt and integrate a suite of Tactical AI technologies to support critical customer needs in multi-ship autonomy, adversary threat replication, and collaborative manned-unmanned teaming. Tactical AI systems are built using a trust-first, hybrid machine learning architecture to provide unmatched operator insight, trust, and situational awareness. Previously demonstrated in support of DARPA’s Air Combat Evolution and AFRL’s Golden Horde Colosseum, EpiSci will rapidly deliver capabilities through a modular, open system.

“EpiSci has always been focused on bringing cutting-edge machine learning and AI solutions into the real world,” said Chris Gentile, EpiSci’s Vice President of Tactical Autonomous Systems and former F-22 Test Pilot. “Our agents meld highly capable AI with a system architecture designed for mission-critical applications. I’m incredibly excited to demonstrate the pace we can bring advanced capabilities to the Exosonic platform.”

“We look forward to working with an incredible company like EpiSci, which has a proven track record in successful and mission-relevant demonstrations of their Tactical AI technologies,” adds Norris Tie, Exosonic CEO. “By adding their software to our aircraft, we’ll have a UAV that can autonomously fly the challenging mission profiles required by our customers.”

About Exosonic

Exosonic is an aerospace company developing supersonic aircraft, starting with supersonic uncrewed aerial vehicles (UAVs) to address several commercial and government missions, such as air combat training. These UAVs serve as a steppingstone towards the company’s vision of going supersonic everywhere by developing the world’s first quiet supersonic airliner. This aircraft will be capable of supersonic travel around the world without restrictions on overland flight due to its muted sonic booms. This means giving travelers the opportunity to travel from places like San Francisco to New York in only three hours and making intercontinental travel possible in a day trip. The company is focused on building a sustainable future that everyone can take part in as well. For more information, please visit www.exosonic.com.
